The Hydraulic 502 is a hydraulically driven punching machine for cold hole-making in flat, angle and structural steel. It produces round holes and, depending on the tooling, slotted holes directly in the workpiece, with no drilling and no heat input, making it well suited to preparing hole patterns in gusset plates, splice plates and connection parts in steel construction.

What is a hydraulic punching machine used for in steel construction?

What is the difference between punching and drilling?

In punching the hole is created in a single stroke by shearing, whereas drilling removes material as chips. For suitable material thicknesses, punching is considerably faster per hole and produces no chips, but it depends on the available press force and the tooling fitted.
