Applications in steel construction

The special fixture Kenn-Nr. 317 produces slotted-hole punchings directly in angle steel, without the section having to be cut open or straightened beforehand. It runs on the Peddinghaus punching machine and uses a dedicated punch holder with dies matched to the angle leg. This creates dimensionally accurate slotted holes for bolted connections that require longitudinal tolerance compensation.

Typical applications

  • Slotted holes in angle steel for bolted connections with longitudinal tolerance compensation
  • Hole patterns at gusset plate connections and connecting angles
  • Slotted hole transverse, longitudinal or at 45 degrees to the angle leg, depending on the die used
  • Machining of angle sections for brackets, columns and bracing
  • Series punching of identical angle components with a recurring hole spacing

Which businesses use it

Used in steel construction, metalworking, locksmithing and steel trading, wherever angle steel is prepared with slotted holes for adjustable bolted connections.

Frequently asked questions

Why a special fixture instead of a standard slotted-hole die?

Angle steel does not lie flat but rests on one leg. The 317 fixture guides and supports the section so that the slotted hole is punched cleanly and to size despite the angle cross-section. A flat standard die is not suitable for this.

Can slotted holes also be punched at an angle in the section?

Yes. In addition to transverse and longitudinal slotted holes, dies are available for slotted holes at 45 degrees to the right or left, suited to connections running at an angle.

On which machine does the 317 fixture work?

It is designed for use on the Peddinghaus punching machine and uses the SV 58 punch holder. This extends existing punching technology to include slotted-hole machining in angle steel.
