Applications in steel construction
The material support table (ref. no. 546) carries long section and flat material during machining and keeps it horizontal at working height. This allows even bulky long material to be guided safely against the stop and cut to length or finished with dimensional accuracy.
Typical applications
- Supporting long structural steel and flat steel bars during cutting to length
- Preventing long workpieces from sagging, so that the stop dimension is correct
- Safe support of long material during punching and finishing
- Extending the working area on shears, punching machines and punching units
- Easier handling of bulky sections thanks to continuous support
Which businesses use it
Used in steel construction, metalworking, steel trading and locksmithing, where long sections and bars are machined to size.
Frequently asked questions
What is a material support table used for?
It carries long section and flat material during machining and keeps it at working height. As a result the workpiece does not sag and can be guided safely and with dimensional accuracy against the stop.
Why do long sections need an additional support?
Long material sags under its own weight if it only rests on the machine. This falsifies the stop dimension and makes handling more difficult. The support table keeps the bar straight and at height, so that work can be carried out with dimensional accuracy.
Can the support table be combined with a length stop?
Yes. Together with a length stop or a measuring rail, the support table forms a continuous measuring and support area in which the material is guided at height and at the same time stopped at the desired dimension.
